Hi! I’m Mairead, the person behind PrettyPlants. I’m 24, currently in school, and working to learn everything I can about indoor growing and gardening.
I started PrettyPlants to share the aesthetic and wellness benefits of plants. While waitressing at local diners, I began selling custom suncatchers and indoor plants, and cultivated container gardens out front. It was there that I saw firsthand how much a green, welcoming storefront changes the whole vibe for customers.
I’ve spent my recent summers doing hands-on field work—from gardening and designing for clients, to interning at an animal sanctuary and doing land conservation work for my town.
When I’m not working in the field, most of my time is spent studying, doing homework, or scouting for new plants. Between managing my own collection and running a business, my space is a bit of a rotating jungle where only the fittest survive.
While I'm constantly building my own skill set, I'm also lucky to have a reliable network of friends and mentors with many more years of experience in horticulture and botany that I can call on or collaborate with for bigger or more specialized projects.
Right now, I keep PrettyPlants small and independent. I focus on a curated selection of indoor plants, handmade suncatchers, and local gardening or storefront container setups.

While I intend on becoming a Landscape Architect, my current studies in Business Environmental Sustainability, three years of managing commercial and residential plantscapes and collaborative partnerships with local botanical and horticultural experts, has built a foundation of knowledge which allows PrettyPlants to be cultivated to a higher standard of quality.
